Has anyone else been getting emails from SoftSailor? And how did it get my email? Please read for details?

I’ve been getting these weird emails from many different people from “SoftSailor’s” emailing list. I have never given my email to such site or company whatsoever. The emails are mostly people complaining and asking the same thing as me: “Why am I getting these emails? How do these people have my email?”. And when people send these emails they are re-directed at everyone else.

Recently I got an email on how to “Unsubscribe” from their list. It says to write my email in a part of their website where it says “unsubscribe or change” but I’m quite skeptic of this since I have NEVER given my email to anyone I don’t know and even less some weird thing called “SoftSailor”.

Here is what the last email sais:

Apparently there has been some confusion as to how to unsubscribe:

1.Using profanity will not work. softsailor@softsailor.com is a bot that will send all your obscenities to everybody else on the list.

2.Typing “unsubscribe” into the subject line will not work. Again, it’s going to be zapped to everybody on the list.

3.I do not know how a bunch of unrelated people are getting on this list, so PLEASE, do not send another message saying “Wat the hell is Soft sailor”. It won’t work, and it’s going to clog up everybody’s inboxes. If you really want to know what Softsailor is, the main site is here. http://www.softsailor.com/

4. The RIGHT way to unsubscribe is to follow this link: http://softsailor.com/mailman/listinfo/softsailor_softsailor.com , go to the bottom of the page, and do what it says under “SoftSailor Subscribers” at the “Unsubscribe or Edit options”.

I checked in a part of their “thread” list and did not found my email there and there where plenty of people expressing their own concerns about this. So why/how the heck they keep sending me emails?

I would just like to know if anyone else has been having this problem.

All you have to do is sign up on one site with your email addy. It will spread like wildfire. These sites sell lists of email addys
