Question regarding mailing items that are legal in some states but illegal in others?

Say I order an item online that is legal in my state and have it shipped to me. If in the mailing process, the package travels through a state where the item is illegal, can I get in trouble or can the package be confiscated? If so, why?

    Nope. You’re all clear.

Only hang-up occurs when the item is illegal in either state so be sure that where the item is coming from it is also legal to ship to/from that state as well

If its legal where the buyer buys it and legal where the seller sells it (and legal in the federal law to ship it), the state it passes through has no interest in it.
