Did he say he was actually sorry, or did he said he was sorry “if I offended anyone”?

He should be disciplined by his supervisor.*

Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one.

That was very foolish for him to do and I think it cost him his job. He says he is not a ****** but that remark sure sounds ****** to me.

    It’s Boston.

The numbers say that the cop probably voted for 0′bama.

    Who gives a chit?

Focus on the REAL issues at hand.

Fire him. If he is so ****** that he can’t even hide it on the job then that makes him a liability. What if he has to testify to something criminal he’s saw? No one would believe him.

He’s not a “racist”, just like Prof. Gates & Al Sharpton aren’t “racists”.
The cop will be fired; we’re stuck with the other two, because it’s “politically correct”.

Racism is a two edged sword.
    Anyone can use it.
Nay- everyone can use it and be bloodied in the process.

That they are further proving us right. They are proving that Whites do racially profile us in real life and call us dirty names…. online. I’ve yet to see one do pr say any of this in real life.Boo hoo! I’m crying!

As someone who READS things before forming judgments:
First, he didn’t “call” him a banana-eating jungle monkey, he said he assaulted the cop LIKE one. LIKE means, ‘assuming the behaviors of’, not ‘Gates is a monkey’. It’s a simile, not an equation. To state a simile as an equation implies that you are really going out of your way to demonize an officer. If someone twisted Obama’s semantic like that, he would be accused of racism in a heartbeat. And Gates was definitely flinging poo in that encounter, to speak metaphorically.
Second, yes, he did a great disservice to cops everywhere.
    Peace

I think the cop is a fuggin’ idiot.

    Well Gates IS a banana-eating Obama-Dik ******* jungle monkey.

    But so is this man

  19. Posted by jdman13 4th April, 2010 at 7:14 am

freedom of speech, even from idiots, is a right, if it was a work address then he should be suspended, but you can’t fire him without an ensuing battle. Honestly, Gates deserved it,.

So what? They are only words. Men should not cry like babies over words. What a soft man you must be.

  21. Posted by Curt J 8th April, 2010 at 6:43 am

While I don’t agree with the ‘Jungle monkey’ part, who are any of us to say that the ‘Banana eating’ part of the email is wrong?
I know a lot of people who eat bananas, myself included.

    PS: I love splitting hairs!

  22. Posted by rayb1214 8th April, 2010 at 5:29 pm

I’m sure that person is no more a ****** than Gates or Obama are.

  23. Posted by Go Skippy 9th April, 2010 at 7:03 am

I take offense to that, we all don’t just eat bananas nor live only in the jungle!
This police officer can claim not being ****** all he wants- if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it’s a duck.

If this is *really* what happened, then I suspect he will be promptly and rightfully fired from his job.

And that should be the end of it.

I don’t see what the big deal is.

If black professors, civil rights leaders, comedians, sports figure, rap singers, and etc can get away with calling white people a bunch of slurs and say the most bigoted remarks about them, then this cop should get away with it also.

I’m so sick of white people having to tip toe around every word to avoid offending black people while they can say whatever they want.
