As in these people have changed their addresses, ISP's etc and no longer use that address. Sometimes its just a matter of lack of organization or well, laziness. I wouldn't make to much of it. What I am wondering is why you are going through his contacts anyway. Maybe this has less to do with him and more to do with insecurities you have. I know if I had someone looking that closely into me life, I would be feeling not only stress but wondering if I really want the other person in my life. Hell my husband, when I ask him to, has issues with going into my handbag as it is too personal and he is uncomfortable doing it.
