How did someone else send email “from” my account, to my address book?

1 comment so far

This morning I discovered that someone has apparently broadcast a commercial email (spam?) from what appears to be my yahoo account, and to my address book. (This message is “from” me! Only I never sent it and am not associated with it in any way!)
I checked with GoDaddy WhoIs and the originator appears to be in another state.
How on earth could this happen, and what should I do about it?
Also, my “sent messages” have been deleted. If anyone has any thoughts on this, please let me know ASAP! Much Thanks!

I wish I knew how to help you. I’ve been asking this same question for the past few weeks. The only answers I get say “Yahoo doesn’t let spam and viruses through”… Yeah, right. Someone keeps spoofing my e-mail address, too, and the e-mail probably contains a virus. Now, I have a lot of people mad at me, even though they know the spam e-mails they get don’t sound like me at all… I’ve even had friends blocking my address because of those spam e-mails!
